This event resulted in the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.

These accusations come after an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their luggage taken after getting out of a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A toddler was among those injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
