Clair Obscur Sweeps at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the top winner. The standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Complementing the developer's triumph, the skilled cast also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers collected 7 awards during the ceremony.
Additional notable winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—judged by experts.
